Proton

Proton is a private equity fund founded in 2018, originated and operated in Mexico, dedicated to developing, operating, owning and managing clean energy investments. Our mission is to drive the sustainable development of the country, meeting the growing electricity demand by harnessing renewable energies, especially in regions dependent on imported energy. With committed capital of up to US $150 million, including leverage, Proton has the flexibility to operate throughout Mexico. This allows it to participate in key projects that improve energy infrastructure, thus supporting the coverage of Mexico’s energy needs in a sustainable manner.

PF Proton I
It is a solar photovoltaic power plant located in the municipality of Aguascalientes, Mexico. With committed capital of approximately US$150 million, including leverage, the project is designed to generate an annual average of 284 GWh of electricity, with an installed capacity of 104.5 MW. The project is currently in the pre-construction phase, with construction scheduled to begin in March 2025 and commercial operation estimated for May 2026. To maximize efficiency and reliability of supply, PF Proton I will incorporate an energy storage system equivalent to 35.53% of its installed capacity. In addition, it will contribute significantly to the environment by annually avoiding more than 158 thousand tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂), 500 kg of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) and 385 tons of nitrogen oxides (NOx). The plant will be connected to the National Transmission Grid through a 230 kV line, thus reinforcing clean energy generation in the region and Mexico's energy infrastructure.
PF Proton II
PF Proton II is a special purpose vehicle created to develop a solar photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 100 MWac in the Bajío-Centro region of Mexico. This region has experienced accelerated economic growth in recent years, driven by the nearshoring phenomenon, attracting international companies that have established operation centers in the area. This boom has made the Bajío a focus for investment, especially in the technology sector, increasing the demand for reliable and sustainable energy to support the installation of large-scale data centers. Given the energy deficit in the Bajío region, PF Proton II emerges as a strategic solution to meet this growing demand for clean and reliable energy. This solar power plant will not only support the economic development of the region, but will also strengthen the infrastructure necessary to attract and maintain high-value investments.
